  • Chemical Peeling

    Chemical Peeling

    Chemical Peeling

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. A chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes it to separate, peel off, and allows new skin to regenerate. The new skin is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin, and may also be more even in color.

Today, with the public’s increasing interest in rejuvenating skin and slowing the effects of the aging process, chemical peeling has emerged as an exciting anti-aging procedure. Results of chemical peels may also be enhanced by new laser/light-based rejuvenation techniques. A thorough evaluation by your doctor is necessary before choosing a chemical peel program.

What can a chemical peel do?
Chemical peeling is used to treat fine lines, especially under the eyes and around the mouth. Wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging, and hereditary factors can be reduced or even eliminated with this procedure. However, sags, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond to peeling and may require other kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures. A dermatologist can help determine the most appropriate type of treatment for each individual case.
Mild scarring and certain types of acne may also be treated with chemical peels. In addition, pigmentation of the skin in the form of sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, blotchiness due to taking birth control pills, and skin that is dull in texture and color may be improved with chemical peeling. Areas of sun-damaged skin and scaling patches may improve after chemical peeling as well. Sunscreens and sun blocks must be used in conjunction with chemical peels in order to decrease the chance of the reappearance of lesions.

    How are chemical peels performed?
The procedure may be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs. Superficial, medium, or deep chemical peels may be used to improve damaged skin. As a rule, the deeper the peel, the longer the recovery time. Your doctor will recommend the best peel for your skin problems.
Prior to treatment, instructions may include stopping certain medications and preparing the skin with pre-conditioning creams.

A chemical peel is usually performed in a doctor’s office. The skin is thoroughly cleansed with an agent that removes excess oils, and the eyes and hair are protected. One or more chemical solutions such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol) are used. Yourdoctor will suggest the proper peeling agent based upon the type of skin damage present and desired results.
During a chemical peel, the physician applies the solution to various areas of the skin. These applications produce separation and eventually peel off layers of skin, enabling rejuvenized skin to appear.
During the procedure, most patients experience a warm to hot sensation that may last about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. A deeper peel may be more painful and require medication during or after the procedure.

What should be expected after treatment?
Depending upon the type of peel, there may be a mild to severe sun burning sensation. Superficial peeling usually involves redness, followed by scaling that lasts three to five days.
Medium-depth and deep peeling can sometimes result in swelling and blisters that may break, crust, turn brown, and peel off over a period of 7 to 14 days or longer. Some peels may require surgical tape to be placed on part or all of the skin that is treated.
It is important to avoid overexposure to the sun immediately after a chemical peel since the new skin is fragile and more susceptible to injury. Your doctor will prescribe appropriate follow¬up care to help the skin heal.

    • About Fat Transplant
    • PrePost Images

Fat transplantation is a procedure to harvest fat from one part one part of the body and transplant it to another part that requires reshaping, rejuvenating or for flaw correction. Usually the fat is harvested from the thighs, abdomen and buttocks for the procedure.

Body Areas Benefited Most by Fat Transplantation include:

    • Lips and cheeks are the most popular sites for fat transplantation. As we age, the face loses its fullness. The fat under the skin, shrinks, resulting in a more hollow looking face and wrinkles around the mouth.
    • Breasts for women whose breasts have naturally small breasts or for those whose breasts have shrunk post pregnancy or due to weight loss.
    • Pectoral muscles in men, often competitive body builders, are implanted with fat to increase the size of the pectoral muscles or calf muscles.
    • Buttocks retain transplanted fat very well
    • Penis enlargements often use fat transplants during penis enlargement and lengthening procedures.

    Procedure:
Fat transplantation is done under local or general anesthesia and the amount of time required for the procedure depends on the amount of fat transplantation that needs to be done. The fat is removed from an area of excessive fat through a liposuction procedure. This fat is then injected into the recipient area with very small, specially designed blunt cannula.

What is the period of special care required in the hospital?
A morning to evening stay in the centre is all that is required. However some patients might prefer an overnight stay.

What precautions are to be taken post surgery?
Fat implantation is usually done in conjunction with other procedures such as liposuction and the recovery is similar to that for liposuction. Initial healing may include some swelling, numbness, soreness or discomfort. However these are common conditions and are controlled with medication. Also it is preferable to wear pressure garments for a period of 1-6 months. fat injections.
For breasts that received a fat transplantation, a special bra is worn for two to three weeks to allow the fat to stay in place. Another rigid cover is used for penis transplants. The swelling lasts about three weeks.

When can I resume my normal activities?
The patient is advised to start walking around a few hours after the surgery. Strenuous activity and exercise should be avoided for a few weeks or as advised by the surgeon.

  • Fillers

    Fillers

    Fillers

    What are the Fillers?
There may be patient’s own tissues like fat or the injectable substances manufactured in pharmaceutical laboratory like – Restilane, Perlone , Dremadeep etc

    What is the treatment like?
Dermal fillers are injected with very fine needle just under the skin surface to increase the volume where it is wanted. Anaesthesian is not required and the treatment is over few minutes. One can resume his or her activities immediately after treatment.
In case of fat injection it is first harvested under suitable anaesthesia from the area of body where it is present in avundence like abdomen, flanks, buttocks etc. And then the harvested fat is injected beneath the skin to correct the soft tissues depressions.

In which conditions fillers are useful?
Fillers and fact injections are useful to correct,

    • Atrphic and wrinkled lips
    • Naro labial folds
    • Deep lines and wrinkles especially around the eyes, mouth and over forehead
    • Depressed scars
    • Soft tissues depression over any part of the body

How long the effect of fillers lasts?
It depends on the hyper of fillers used eg. The effect pf Restilane and Perlane last for about 6 months and that of Dermadeep for about 2 – 3 years Aquamid 7 to 10 years . In case of fat injection some amount of fat gets reserved by over a period of time and ultimately about 30-40% remains at the site of injection, permanently.

What precautions should be taken after treatment with fillers?
Nothing especial, though one should avoid massage over site of injection for about a week in care of filers and for 3 weeks when fat is injected.

How safe is the treatment with fillers?
Treatment with the fillers we use (Rstilane, Perlane, Dermadeep, Aquamid) is very safe and usually there is no complications there something may be redness or burning at the site of injection but that too is temporary. Fat being ones own tissue, there is on adverse affect of fat injection , thought there is little swelling locally due to over injection of fat, swelling usually resides in a few weeks time

  • Microdermabrasion

    Microdermabrasion

    Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. The plastic surgeon uses a device like a fine sandblaster to spray tiny crystals across the face, mixing gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted Pigmentation

Microdermabrasion is effective in reducing fine lines, “crow’s feet,” age spots and acne scars. It stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen. It has proven to be a very popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure;.

    Technique:
The hand piece emits crystals onto the surface of the skin, resulting in a gentle abrasion or “polishing”process. Each treatment takes from 10 to 20 minutes. The number of treatments recommended formaximal results can range between 5 and 12, spaced from 2 to 3 weeks apart. Maintenance of results requires periodic repeat treatments after the initial regimen is completed. Microdermabrasion may be combined with a light chemical peel to increase the effect.

    Benefits:
    Virtually no side effects.
Gives the skin an overall fresh, healthy-looking glow.
Nonsurgical, safe, effective “lunch hour” procedure.
Effective on all skin colors and types.
    No anesthetic required.
Excellent for skin sensitive to chemical procedures.
Normal activities can be resumed immediately.

    Other Considerations:
Requires multiple sessions and maintenance treatments.
Patients with good skin tone will show best results.

An individualized skin care program may be recommended to maximize results.
Microdermabrasion is a quick, non-invasive procedure used to resurface the skin. It is sometimes called “lunchtime peel”.
This relatively new procedure gently removes only the very top layers of damaged skin by “sand blasting” them with tiny crystals. The technique exfoliates and gently resurfaces the skin, promoting the formation of new smoother, clearer skin. It is usually performed on the face and neck, but can be performed on any part of the body (such as the backs of the hands).
